Blog Tour (Excerpt + Review): By Sin I Rise by Cora Reilly

“Cora Reilly is a master at forbidden and dangerous love... Maddox and Marcella are a fierce force together and part two can't come fast enough”! – Sophie Lark, bestselling author

By Sin I Rise: Part 1, an all-new action-packed dark romance from USA Today bestselling author Cora Reilly is available now!

Maddox – Mad Dog – White hates everything the name Vitiello stands for, after he witnessed his father and his men getting butchered by the Capo of the Italian mob in their territory. Raised by his uncle, the president of the Tartarus MC, Maddox is destined to follow in his footsteps. Now their chapter is on the rise again, but for their ultimate triumph they need to destroy the Vitiello empire. And what better way to do it than to steal the spoilt Vitiello princess and break her piece by piece until her father begs for mercy.

Known as the spoilt princess of New York, Marcella Vitiello grew up in a golden cage. If your father is the most feared man in New York, people gift you with reverence.

Destined to marry the boyfriend approved by her father, Marcella is sick of being treated like an untouchable porcelain doll.

She resents the life forced upon her by her family until everything she took for granted is ripped from her. Where she’s now, her name doesn’t bring awe, only pain and humiliation.

If you’ve grown up in a high castle, the fall is all the deeper.

Sins of the fathers have a way of catching up…who’s going to bleed for them?

Review

Before we get into the review, By Sin I Rise is a dark romance and has some scenes that might be triggering.

This book has been subject to a lot of mixed reviews. And somewhere, while reading the book, I had the same kind of feeling. I didn't exactly know whether I liked it or not. But let me tell you the way this story ends (on a cliffhanger), changed my opinion for the better.

Let me start by telling you what exactly I liked about this book. The setting of the entire story is truly dark. It is a proper dark romance and will make you feel a little uncomfortable at times, due to the scenes in it. It is full of violence. You will understand the level of violence from the manner in which this book starts off. This was the first time when a story for me was more than its characters. It was actually the plot and how well mafia along with the motorcycle (MC) club world has been handled. Nowhere does the story derail from its plot. It is an intense story, where the two protagonists, have a lustful relationship rather than romance. By sin I rise, starts off slow, and only picks up after 18% of the book is done. But after 18%, I bet, if you are into the dark romance genre and don't have any kind of triggers, it would be hard to let go.

Coming to the characters, in By sin I rise, we follow, Maddox and Marcella. Marcella initially comes across as this spoilt brat, who is only concerned about shopping and her studies. She is someone who lives in a very suffocating world. Suffocating in the sense that, her life entirely is dominated by her father. She will marry who her father chooses for her. She can't work or be financially independent. Maddox, on the other hand, is a part of an MC. He has had a very messed up past and will stop at nothing to exact his revenge. He is not an alpha male. But dangerous all the same.

Few things that I felt made the reading experience a little slow for me, was the manner in which the story starts. It is a little irritating. I instantly disliked Marcella because of it. I don't know whether that was the intention of the author or not. But Marcella is such a frustrating character. However, I loved how Marcella's character evolves over the entire story. She became exactly what she should have been. Apart from this, there were some scenes in this story that were cringe-worthy. I don't generally get uncomfortable with violence in books, but these scenes were upsetting.

In conclusion, I am excitedly looking forward to reading the next installment in this series and becoming a little more uncomfortable. Because this book is worth becoming uncomfortable for. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Prologue
Maddox

From the very first moment I spotted Snow White, she’d burned herself into my brain. Every fucking night, the image of her naked body tortured me in maddening detail.
Sometimes I woke with the remnants of her taste in my mouth, half convinced I’d actually buried my tongue in her undoubtedly pretty pussy. Fuck, I hadn’t seen an inch of that legendary body yet, much less touched her. Oh, but I would, even if it took a poisoned apple.
A guy like me would never be allowed near Snow White. I wasn’t a fuckin’loser, far from it. I was going to become the president of the Tartarus MC, following in my uncle’s footsteps, the current prez. Of course, that made me the lowest scum on earth if you asked Snow White and her fuckin’father, Luca Vitiello, the Capo of the Italian mob on the East Coast. I was a little boy, barely five years old, when the life I knew was ripped from me. As the son of the president of the New Jersey chapter of the Tartarus motorcycle club, I had watched many disturbing things at my young age. Club brothers getting it on with whores in the middle of the clubhouse in broad daylight, brutal fights, shootings…but nothing had left quite a mark like the night the Capo of the Famiglia brutally killed my father and his men.
The murderous bastard had slaughtered an entire chapter of our club—alone.
Strike that.
Not alone—with a fuckin’ax and a skinning knife. The screams of my dying club family still haunted my nights, an echo of a memory I couldn’t shake unless I drank enough booze to kill an elephant. Those images were the fuel for my hunger for revenge.
And revenge I would finally get, with the help of the spoiled princess of New York: Marcella Vitiello.

Blog Tour (Excerpt + Review) : Taste of an Enemy by Holly Renee

Rich. Vicious. Vengeful. Forbidden. The Boys of Clermont Bay had always been untouchable.

The Taste of an Enemy, the first angst-filled new adult romance in The Taste of an Enemy Duet from Holly Renee is available now!

Rich. Vicious. Vengeful. Forbidden. The Boys of Clermont Bay had always been untouchable.
And Carson Hale was the worst of them all.
He was pretentious and a player, and he had hated me for so long I forgot that we were ever anything more than enemies.
Brutally beautiful and savagely heartless, his only plan was to ruin everything I loved.
But dares were made, and even though I had no business saying yes, I found myself in trouble and forced to work with my rival to get us out of it.
He had always been cruel, but something changed.
The lure of him was too much. The way I craved his touch was unbearable.
Just as I fell for him, he proved himself to be exactly who he had been all along.

Review:

After reading the first two books in the Boys of Clermont Bay series, I was eagerly looking forward to Taste of an enemy. Throughout the first two books, you can feel a tension between Carson and Allie, and I was soo curious to know the reason for the tension. So the day this ARC landed in my Kindle, I was super excited to dive in.

Taste of an enemy was such a tumultuous ride, which is full of drama and swoon-worthy romance. It will pull at your heartstrings. At one point I was laughing and loving the feelings that Carson and Allie had for each other, on the other hand, I was so frustrated with Carson. Carson is beautiful, handsome, a jerk most of the time, caring, frustrating and challenging. Allie on the other hand, is soft, strong, beautiful, a person with the utmost amounts of patience, and an amazing human.

This is not an easy book to let go of. The writing in this book is so amazing. Even though the entire story is told from a dual perspective, the manner in which it is written, makes the reader feels as if they are witnessing the entire story firsthand.

I loved the variety of characters in this series. With each subsequent book, the series just gets better. My only complaint about this book was that it ended way too early. I wasn't ready to let go of the book so soon.

All in all, the taste of an enemy is an amazing story where Holly Renee has done a complete justification to the enemies to lovers trope. Will surely recommend it.

My rating for this book is 4 out of 5 stars.

This book can be read as a standalone. But I would highly recommend you to read the first two books in the series. You can read my thoughts on the first book - The touch of a villain, here, and my thoughts on the second book - The fall of a god, are available here.

Excerpt

I walked into Wings and Things and spotted Eli as soon as I made it through the door. He smiled before standing and coming to meet me. I couldn’t tell if anyone else was already at the table, and I tried to remind myself that I shouldn’t care. Tonight was about having fun and getting to know Eli.
Carson didn’t matter for either of those things. I would just drown him out and pretend he wasn’t there. That was what I was used to doing. That was what the two of us had been doing for years.
Even though I was already a little but irritated that Eli hadn’t offered to pick me up. My dad was irritated by that fact too.
“You look beautiful.” Eli grinned before pulling me into a hug.
“Thank you.” I breathed in the scent of his warm cologne, the smell familiar and calming. “You look nice as well.”
I looked up at him as he let me go. He was much taller than me, although shorter than Carson, and he had a smile that made me feel comfortable.
He grabbed my hand in his and led the way back to the table. I fixed my hair while I was still blocked from view, and I planted the best smile I could manage on my face as he pulled out the chair for me that was directly across from Carson.
“Thank you.” I settled into my seat and tried to avoid making eye contact with Carson.
“Allie, this is Kimberly. Kimberly, Allie. I think you all might know each other.”
I looked across the table at Kimberly, and of course I knew her. We had gone to school together since grade school, and I had hated her almost as long. She was popular, conceited, and a perfect fit for Carson.
“Of course.” I nodded and pulled out my menu. “How are you, Kim?”
“I’m perfect.” She giggled and looked over at Carson. His hand disappeared under the table, and even though I couldn’t see it, I knew that his hand probably rested on her thigh.
I wanted to rip it off.
“Awesome,” I mumbled and tried to focus on the menu.
Carson laughed under his breath, but I ignored him.
“What are you getting?” I looked to my right where Eli sat. “Do you want to share some wings?”
“Oh.” He looked up from his menu. “I was thinking about getting the burger.”
“A burger at a wing place.” Carson scoffed and tossed his menu down on the table. “I’ll share an order with you, Allie. Kim’s getting a salad.”
He didn’t give me time to answer. As soon as the waitress came to our table, Carson opened his mouth. “My girl Allie and I are going to share a large order of wings, extra ranch for both of us. No carrots. She hates those.”
I looked at him like he had lost his mind because I was pretty sure that he had.
“What can I get you to drink?” The waitress was now looking at me.
“Um, just a Coke, please.”
Everyone else ordered their food, and I fidgeted with my hands under the table.
“So, Allie, how is school going for you?” I looked up at Eli. I had almost forgotten he was there.
“It’s all right. I’m so ready for fall break, though.”
“Me too.” He nodded. “Are you going anywhere? My family is taking a trip to Europe.”
“No.” I almost choked on the word. Sometimes I forgot just how far apart my family was from those who went to Prep. They were made of money, old money to be exact, and guys like Eli had never had to think about working or how he’d pay for college. “We typically stay home and do a Thanksgiving meal at our house. It’s real low-key.”
And my dad would still be working every day except for Thanksgiving, and my small house would be busting with people. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins. We were always together on holidays, and I loved it.
It may not have been Europe, but it was ours.
“That’s cool.” He nodded and turned his chair to where he faced me better. “We’ve been going to Europe for years now. My parents love it, and they take us about every other year. Have you ever been?”
“To Europe?” I shook my head, and suddenly I felt ridiculous. “No. The farthest I’ve been is Disney World.” I didn’t mention that had been almost ten years ago.
I could hear Carson and Kimberly talking across from us, and I hoped he was too enthralled with her and her perfect face to even consider listening to our conversation.
Eli laughed like I had just told a joke, but I hadn’t. “That’s too bad. I bet you would really like Europe.”
“What makes you think that, Eli?” Carson was leaned back in his chair with his arm resting on the back of Kimberly’s.
Eli laughed nervously and looked between me and Carson. “It’s Europe.” He shrugged his shoulders.
“But you don’t know anything about Allie specifically that would make her love Europe, correct?”
Eli opened his mouth, but Carson continued.
“Like you have no clue that she’s been dreaming of going to Paris forever, and she has this little Eiffel Tower key chain that she’s had on her set of keys since she’s had them. Or that she thinks she’s part Irish because she has a little bit of green in her eyes.”
“I didn’t realize you knew so much about her.” Eli was no longer aloof. He was sizing Carson up, and I wasn’t here for a pissing contest.
“Well, now you do.” Carson stared back at him with the same unrelenting gaze, and I felt like I was going insane.
Carson hadn’t given a shit about me since that night he needed me and I wasn’t there. If he wasn’t ignoring me altogether, he was making me wish he was, and now all of the sudden, he wanted to share wings and spew facts about me like he was my best friend.
“Stop,” I hissed. “You’re being an ass. Aren’t you supposed to be on your own date?” I looked over at Kimberly, and she looked uncomfortable. I couldn’t blame her. I felt uncomfortable too.
The waitress arrived back at our table with food in hand, and we were spared from whatever Carson was going to say next. He looked down at the food, and his bright eyes looked so hollow. He scrunched his brow, something he always did when he was upset, and his jaw stiffened. I didn’t know if he was angry with me or with himself.
But I didn’t want to find out. I quickly grabbed a wing from our plate and took a huge bite. Sauce dripped down my chin, but I didn’t stop. The food was a distraction. If we were eating, then we weren’t talking, and I couldn’t stand to hear anything more from Carson right now.
Not after everything he just said. Not with the way he had brought up memories of me like it wouldn’t mess with my head.
“This is good.” I wiped at my mouth with the back of my hand. “Do you want a bite?” I looked over to Eli, and he shook his head as he looked at my half-bitten wing.
“Nah. I’m good.”
“Suit yourself.” I shrugged as I looked down at his measly-looking burger.
“I’ll take one.” Carson reached forward, his fingers wrapping around my wrist, and he stood in his seat enough to bring my hand to his lips. I stared at him, shocked by what he was doing, but there wasn’t an ounce of shame in his gaze.
He didn’t look away from me for a second as he bit down into the wing I was still holding, and I couldn’t stop myself from holding my breath as his lips met my fingers. Carson Hale wasn’t just taking a bite of my chicken. He was causing a scene, and part of me wondered how he had gotten so damn good at it.
He ran his tongue over the edge of my thumb, licking up the sauce that had dripped there, and I felt like he had just used his tongue on parts of my body that no one else ever had. I pressed my thighs together as I watched his mouth, and I couldn’t bring myself to care that Eli was watching me as Carson finally let go of my hand and settled back into his seat.
“You’re right, Allie. That’s absolutely delicious.” He licked his lip before picking up a wing of his own, then began eating like that display hadn’t just happened.
I picked up my napkin, quickly dropping my gaze to my lap as I wiped my hands, but I couldn’t get the feel of him off. And I didn’t know if I wanted to.

Blog Tour (Review) : Merciless Union by Faith Summers

Skeletons fall out of the closet as I get my memories back.

Merciless Union, the stunning conclusion to the all new Blood and Thorns Duet from Faith Summers is available now!

Everything changed overnight.
Truth became my enemy, and the sting of betrayal dragged me into a web of lies.
I’m damned if I fight to live and damned if I die.
The dark secrets I remember might tear my marriage apart.
Love is a myth we shouldn’t have explored.
My husband was always my enemy.
Love just made me forget and blinded me.
The cruel hand of death is the only answer when doom takes over.
I don’t know if I’ll survive.
Or if death will bury me along with the sins of my father.

Merciless Union is a dark mafia arranged marriage romance. It contains dubious situations, mature content, and graphic violence some readers might find offensive and/or triggering.
This is the last part of a duet and is not standalone.

Review:

Merciless Union is the second book in the Blood and thorns duet. You can read my thoughts on the first book, Merciless Vows here.

A masterful ending to the duet. This story is heart breaking. It will break your heart, mend it and then break it again. The suspense in this book is so intense and well written that it gets hard to leave the book. My heart goes out to the two protagonists, Lucca and Aria. Both have gone through soo much already, but the things that unravel in this book are just insane and I have no idea how someone survives these secrets unraveling. They are super strong characters with loads of emotional baggage and trauma attached to their childhood and adult life.

Some elements of the story revolve around sexual child abuse. This part really made me uncomfortable. Faith summers really covers the brutality of abuse. She writes it the way it should be written. This can also be a trigger for some.

The one part that affected my rating, is that I was able to predict the ending, as in who did it. And it wasn't really a surprise for me.

However, this book is super well written, with an epic cast of characters who are morally grey. All mafia romance lovers should pick this duet up. It will be worth your time for sure.

My rating for this book is 4 out of 5 stars.

Blog Tour (Excerpt + Review) : Merciless Vows (Blood and Thrones duet book 1) by Faith Summers

When I was sixteen a gypsy fortune teller told me my future held darkness and death.
She was right.

Merciless Vows, the first in the all-new Blood and Thorns Duet from Faith Summers is available now!

When I was sixteen a gypsy fortune teller told me my future held darkness and death.
She was right.
But what she didn’t tell me was the devil himself would rise from hell in the form of Lucca Dyshekov and take everything from me with a gun held to my head.

He’s the Bratva assassin they all call Merciless.
On our wedding day he taught me real monsters aren’t the ones who hide in the dark.
They’re the ones who stare you in the face and steal your soul.

On a quest for revenge, he takes me and unearths secrets from the past that will cause a war.
When death lies on the horizon the enemy of my enemy becomes my friend.
In this instance, he’s my husband.
The real question is when he finishes uncovering the truth, will he keep me or kill me.

Review:

Trigger warning : rape and violence.

Faith Summers has literally become one my favourite authors. If there is a book with her name then I have to read it. This is my second novel by her and I can tell you that it met all my expectations and is an amazingly written mafia romance. My love for her writing has increased with every subsequent read. She has a simple and easy to follow writing style.

Another thing that pulled me towards this book is the fact that the male protagonist is a part of the Bratva, the Russian Mafia.

In this book we follow Aria and Merciless (Lucca). Merciless is one of the most important persons in the Bratva. He kills for a living. Merciless Vows is tale of revenge, mystery, suspense, and romance that will make you fall in love with both the protagonists. It's a romance that will surely pull at your heart strings and one where as a reader you will get invested in.

Merciless vows is a mafia enemies to lovers romance. Faith summers has done justice to the genre. The plot of this story is super intense and full of unpredictable and well thought through twist and turns. They will catch you by surprise and are heart wrenching.

Merciless vows has a great set of characters. My heart goes out to the protagonists, they don't have it easy. All the characters in this story are complex and super interesting. It is not an easy read with the kind of sub-genres that this story is based on. But if you choose to read it and are a fan of the mafia romance genre, then you will surely love every bit of it.

Merciless vows ends in a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the second installment in this series. It is a must read for all the mafia romance lovers out there.

I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

Excerpt

We stare at each other for what feels like forever, and my nerves spike with every second that passes.

The way he looks at me makes me uncomfortable. It’s with an air of fascination that makes me wonder if it was he I lost my virginity to.

Annoyingly, the thought sends a shiver of arousal through me, and the weight pulls on my core.

There’s an attraction between us I don’t want to accept, especially after last night. And this morning.

Yet, as I stare at him, I can’t help but wonder how we would have met if my father didn’t know I knew him.

How close were we?

I have so many questions, ones I feel he won’t answer,

“Go on, Printsessa,” he urges with a cocky smile that should be as illegal as he is. “Ask me. I don’t want my bride’s head to explode with all those questions she has swirling around in there.”

Him calling me his bride makes me cringe.

“Why do you want to marry me? What sort of business benefit is there in marrying me?”

“Business benefit?” He inclines his head, and his hair drifts over his shoulder. The fading sunlight captures the lighter hints of brown in the dark mass of wild hair.

“You don’t love me, so don’t play with me. Tell me the truth. You’re marrying a woman who has no memories beyond the last two and a half years. I think I deserve some explanation.”

He looks like he’s considering it. When he sets his shoulders back, my hopes rise.

“You fit in with my plans,” he answers.

“What plans?”

“Those don’t concern you.”

“How don’t they concern me? You have access to my whole life. This is wrong. You know it is.”

“Right and wrong are shades of gray that people manipulate to take whatever form they want. This is mine.”

I shake my head. “I don’t want to marry you.”

“You don’t have a choice, and if I were you, I wouldn’t create problems. Your father wasn’t joking when he told you to do as you’re told. You need to. If you don’t create problems, you won’t have a problem with me.”

He touches my cheek, and my body instantly betrays me.

The memory of his face comes into my mind, along with a kiss—the one from last night and another from before. That was the one I dreamt about.

“Where do I know you from?”

“I told you, you shouldn’t try and remember me.”

“Why? You’re the only thing I remember,” I confess, and as the words leave my lips, I regret it. I don’t think I should have told him that.

“Is that so? How unfortunate for you.” He backs away.

“You said you wouldn’t hurt me.”

“I guess I must have lied.”

Review : The fall of a god by Holly Renee

BLURB

Innocent. Blameless. Pure. Heartbroken.  Josie Vos belonged to the one family I hated more than anything.

And I had forced her to despise me just as much.

It didn’t matter that I had lost track of my plan and fallen for my enemy.

Irrevocably hurt and enraged by my deceit, she had no intentions of doing anything but watching me lose my throne.

The secrets of our families can never be forgotten.

I knew that from the beginning, but I refuse to allow the sins of our families to determine our future.

I should have left her alone and let her hate me.

I didn’t.

I was going to fight for her, even if she now held all the power.

Review:

The fall of a god is the second book in the boys of Clermont Bay series. You can read my thoughts about the first book, Touch of a villain, here.

Fall of a god starts exactly where the touch of a villain ended. The story flows from the first book to the second, seamlessly. But coming to the main point, fall of god was the perfect ending.

This book is super hot and full of romance that it becomes super hard to not finish reading it. The story lingers on in your mind even after that. Beck is broody, yet an amazingly handsome guy. I can't believe that he is fictional. I loved his determination to make things right. They only thing that bugged me about him is that he is gullible and made really stupid decisions at times in the story. But man he is hooootttt.

Coming to Josie, she is strong, beautiful and the only person, I believe on this planet that can handle a person like Beck. The amount of difficult situations she goes through is heart breaking, and I kept on rooting for her throughout the book.

The writing is beautiful, smooth and engaging. I loved how from the first page itself, I got hooked on to it. And was sad when I finished it. Oh and the twists in the story are very well thought through.

I loved these two books through and through. I can't emphasis enough. For all the enemies to lovers romance readers out there, do make it a point to pick these books up, they are literally all the perfection you need.

I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

Review : Beautiful Legend by Waverly Alexander

Beautiful Legend, enemies-to-lovers romance that has been reworked with all-new material from Waverly Alexander, is available now!

I’ve spent every day since I was seven hiding my past, trying to forget the attack that killed my mother and my sister.
The attack I barely survived.
Now, I never let anyone in.
Even the people who would consider me a friend.
They don't know the real me.

Joshua barged into my life my junior year of college.
Brooding, mysterious, and barely talks to anyone—Joshua Travin is allegedly as skilled in the bedroom as he is on the rugby field.
He’s everywhere I go, always watching.
Despite his obvious distaste for me, I find a familiar comfort in his green eyes.

This book has been reworked and contains never before read bonus material.

Review:

Beautiful legend by Waverly Alexander has been a read with many mixed feeling. Don't get me wrong, I loved the intensity between the protagonists, Addison and Joshua. Joshua is this guy who deals with a lot of guilt from his past. Addison, on the other hand, is a girl who has experienced childhood trauma and hardly remembers the events of the trauma.

Few things that I loved about the story were, Remi (rescue dog) and Addison's relationship, the intensity of romance between Addison and Joshua, and the suspense. Remi and Addison share a very beautiful relationship. I really felt that as a person Addison is very considerate and a soft hearted individual. She rescues dogs and tries to give them good life. Once you read the story, you will understand her reasons and I am sure that will pull at your heart strings. Coming to the romance, it's hot, exciting and passionate. The plot of the story is one that will keep you hooked till the end. The suspense created throughout the book is very gripping.

Coming to the things that didn't really work for me. Firstly, I am not a big fan of the cover (though that doesn't really affect my rating). Secondly, the description of the story says that it's an enemies to lovers romance, I felt that it was more of a stalker romance than enemies to lovers. Thirdly, I am not a big fan of love and chemistry at first sight. I really felt that somewhere the relationship between the characters didn't really develop, and neither did the characters evolve with the story.

In short, after reading beautiful legend, I didn't really have a definite feeling of whether I loved it or not. And hence, I would rate it a 3 out of 5 stars.

He pushed away from the sink and moved toward me, forcing me to press my back further against the door.

“You’ve been sulking around campus, popping up everywhere, glowering at me like I’m some horrible person.” I waved my hand at him, exasperated. “You act like I lured your sweet, old grandmother out to an alligator-infested swamp and nudged her in.”

He snorted, trying not to laugh, but I could see the flash of glee in his eyes. He smiled a real smile, one that reached his eyes and stretched his cheeks, showing his straight, white teeth and hitting me right in the gut with the realization that I’d seen that smile before.

“You’re not… ” he started, and I could see the thoughtful confusion etched in his features before he finished his thought by saying, “what I expected you to be.”

“What does that even mean?” I scrunched my nose in distaste at his words, which made me feel strangely inadequate. “Do I know you?”

“Nothing,” he said distractedly, his eyes studying my face intently like he was looking for something that just wasn’t there. “You’re beautiful,” he murmured so slowly and softly that my breath hitched in my lungs, and for a moment I forgot how to expel the air I need to survive.

I started to move again, but he closed in on me—close enough that I could feel his heated breath on my cheek, his chest not quite touching mine. His palms were flat against the door on either side of my head. His fiery stare sparked my nerves, not because I was afraid of him, but because I could feel the heat spreading from my cheeks, down my neck, and to my chest.

I pushed my palms against the hard planes of his chest, but he didn’t budge. “I’m leaving,” I said, but it didn’t sound convincing, even to me.

“Are you?” He smirked, pushing closer.

Let me love you by Siobhan Davis

Let Me Love You, the highly-anticipated and jaw-dropping conclusion to the All of Me Duet from USA Today bestselling author Siobhan Davis, available now!

My heart and soul forever belong to two men.
It’s an irrefutable truth that won’t ever change.
Reeve is the air I breathe.
Dillon is the fire that consumes me.
How am I expected to live without a part of my heart?

Review:

Let me love you is the second book in the All of me duet. Read my review of the first book in this duet here.

I was so looking forward to this second installment. After reading Say I'm the one, I was super curious to know what events would unfold. This story will break you before it heals you. It will make you sob at times, but everything is worth it. This duet is full of drama, romance, incredible plot, beautiful cast of characters and scenes that will pull your heart strings. It is one of those stories that will stay with you for a while. It's also a sort of commentary on fandom in the times of social media. How this can affect a person and their loved ones life.

Let me love you starts from the scene where Say I'm the one ended. The story flowed smoothly into the second book. As a reader, I wasn't difficult to recall the story from the first book. This made the reading experience a more easier and I could just deep dive into this story without worrying about whether I remembered the story from the first. The author also gives enough recap of the story in the first book, which are very well woven into the story. They are not given as a separate chapter, but are a part of the story.

The characters throughout this duet are well rounded and relatable. Had I been a part of such an intense situation, I might have reacted the same way. My heart goes out to the female protagonist, Viven, in this story. She didn't deserve all the stuff she went through. An individual needs immense amounts of emotional strength to endure such a life and keep on living. She is strong and has a heart of gold.

The plot of the story is well crafted and paced, with multiple twist and turns. If you are a person that loves drama with romance, you will love the plot. These twist and turns provide the storyline with intensity that just makes everything better.

Unlike the first book, the second book deals, with stuff like grief associated with losing a loved one, and finding the strength to move on in life. These elements were well done and well written. Siobhan Davis has done a commendable job at writing how losing a loved one wreaks havoc on a persons' life and how it takes time to heal.

Even though I loved the story through and through, I found it dragged a little in certain parts. And I didn't really understand the need for the twist at the end. I am not complaining, but the twist at the end just felt a little out of place for me.

However, loved this duet and am happy with the way it ended. The ending somewhere gave me a sense of closure. All of me, is a well done duet. And one that people who are into drama should surely pick up.

I would rate Let me love you a 4 out of 5 stars.

Excerpt

“I won’t pretend to know the exact inner workings of your mind, nor am I asking you to tell me, but you’re my brother, and I know you well enough to know part of what is going through that thick skull of yours.” She grabs a towel from behind her, gently mopping the wetness on my face. “You love her. I know you do. Like I know it terrifies you to trust your heart to someone. I understand she hurt you, but she’s hurting too. I should’ve knocked your heads together weeks ago and forced you to have a conversation about the future. You’ve both been skating around it instead of just talking.”

“We did talk. I told her how I felt. I asked her to stay, and she said no.”

“You sprung it on her at the last minute, Dil! You didn’t even give her time to consider it before you stormed off all butthurt.”

“She rejected me, Ash.” I rub at the tightness spreading across my chest. “She was never going to choose me over him. She’s been in love with him most of her life. A few months with me isn’t going to change that fact.”

Brightly Burning Bridges, an all-new enemies to lovers romance from Ivy Wild, is available now!

𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙨⠀

He wasn’t my friend until he became my enemy.⠀

His center is freezing cold,⠀

and his edges burn me when I get too close.⠀

He is everything I want and nothing I am.⠀

They say not to burn bridges,⠀

but he burned ours to the ground.⠀

𝙎𝙠𝙮𝙡𝙚𝙧⠀

She is the girl who wants to be seen,⠀

but hates being noticed.⠀

She was my friend, my tease, my confidant.⠀

She is pure light against all my darkness.⠀

The reason you burn down bridges,⠀

is to build them up stronger.⠀

Review:

Brightly burning bridges by Ivy Wild is a story that will stay with you for long and it will be hard for you to let go. It will pull at your heart strings and take you through an emotional journey that is Silas and Skyler's relationship.

The protagonists in this book are beautiful and layered, both struggling with their own set of insecurities. As the story progresses and the layers of each of the characters start to peel off, a new side to them is revealed. And this makes you fall more in love with the character.

The writing of this story is admirable. It's simple. Brightly burning bridges is written in two point of views and Ivy had done an amazing job at both. She very smoothly navigated between both the point of views and gives each character a say and tell their part of the story.

The thing that I loved the most was the way that Ivy handled the insecurities of the two characters. Skyler is very insecure about her looks. This is exactly what attracts Silas.

I especially loved Silas as a character. He is super complex yet very well written.

Some of the instances in this book were very impactful for me. The romance was intense and hot. And this is one of those books that even after you turn the last page, you still want to continue reading this story.

I felt that this story ended way too early than it should have. However, I loved it and would love to check out more books from Ivy Wild.

My rating for this book is 5 out of 5 stars.

Excerpt

“And just where do you think you’re going?” a deep voice slurred from

somewhere near the door. I didn’t need to look up to know who it was.

“I’m going home, Silas,” I said, fighting back the tears that were threatening to

run down my face as I tried to fit too many textbooks into my backpack.

“Like fuck you are,” he said, making his way toward me.

I stood to my full height and looked at him. My heart dropped at seeing

him this way.

“Silas, you’re drunk.” I could smell the marijuana coming off of him in waves. “And

probably high. You should call it a night.”

I didn’t know why I was trying to give him advice. I should have told him to

go fuck himself and be done with it.

“I’ll call it a night if you call it one with me,” he drawled, moving in closer to me.

“Get away from me, Silas,” I said, trying to feign confidence but he just laughed.

“You don’t want that, Sky. I saw the way you looked at me. The way you looked

at her. You wanted that to be you, hm?”

I didn’t think his comment warranted a response. Either that or I was  too choked

up to say something back. I picked up my backpack and tried to lift it onto my

shoulders, but even in his inebriated state he was quick. The bag tumbled to the

floor as he pushed it away and I felt my back press into the wall behind me.

“Admit it, Sky. You. Want. Me.” He was so close to me now. His  lips were

ghosting against my neck and his hand was pressing against my hip.

I hated this.

I hated him.

I hated the way he made me feel.

And I hated the way he smelled like someone else’s perfume.

“I can smell her on you,” I seethed at him through grit teeth.

He pulled back, lifting his face so that his eyes were even with mine. His fingers

moved up, making me shiver on their ascent before pinching my chin. I grimaced

as I wondered whether it was the hand that had, minutes before, been knuckle

deep in another woman’s cunt.

“You wish it were you, don’t you?” he drawled.

“No,” I bit back, but I was a fucking liar. Truth was, I wanted Silas. I wanted him

bad. And I wanted him all to myself. I didn’t want to share him. Not with some bimbo.

Not with anyone. I loved the way him and I had developed our study routine.

I loved that out of everyone in his life, except for maybe his mother, I knew him the

best.

He had hot edges and a frozen center, but at least I knew all the secrets

he kept hidden there were for me and me alone. But I didn’t know how to say

any of this. Worse than that, I didn’t know how to admit any of this. I hated and

wanted him at the same time. He said I was a contradiction but that was only

because he tore me in two.
