Review:

Filthy hot by Serena Akeryod is a mafia romance story with a twist. It is a story that is full of feels and ohh!!!! the romance is epic. Filthy hot tells you the story of a couple that are badass and made for each other. It's one of those books that will make you cry, laugh and everything in between.

In fithly hot we follow two characters that have had dark pasts. Both have dealt with difficult circumstances as children, which have made them into the individual's they are today. It seriously broke my heart while reading about the situations they were witness to in the story. One of the best storylines I have read.

The writing is great. Filthy hot is told in multiple point of views. This gives the reader an access to the mindset of the characters and understand them better. Writing style is simple and easy to follow. One of the most commendable things in this book is the manner in which difficult topics like sexual abuse, rape, and suicide are handled.

Savannah is such a strong women. One of the scenes in the book is where she is fighting off an intruder with cleaning supplies, damn I loved the fact that she is not a scardy cat but rather someone who can fight and defend themselves. On the other hand, she is hopelessly in love with Aiden. Aiden is the son of a Irish mafia king. He is dangerous, handsome, and protective.

Once you pick this book up it's pretty difficult to put it down. The pacing of the story is such that it will keep you hooked till the end. And the suspense in this book just adds a lot more flavor to it.

I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

Her make-up was exquisite. Perfect. Utterly beautiful.

I wanted to wreck it.

I wanted to mar it, because the second we walked through those fucking doors, there’d be men there who’d see her. Who’d want her. Who’d want something that everything inside me screamed was mine.
My thumb twitched as I reached her lips. Bright red and glossy with it, they parted at the digit’s approach, and I let my gaze drift from the gleaming, pouting morsel and up to her eyes.

Nostrils flaring when I saw the challenge in hers, I growled under my breath and did as my instincts insisted.

I let my thumb slide through that gloss, dragging it aside and onto her cheek, smearing perfection. Sullying it.

"Feel better?" she rasped, no anger, more like amusement lacing her tone at my antics, as her hands came around my hips, lowering to my ass as she pressed harder, making sure that both of us were well aware I had a boner.

Much as she’d done, I threw that back at her: "Does it feel like I feel better?"

She shook her head, her eyes darkening as she rolled her hips.

"You’ll get burned," I warned her.

"Maybe I want to. Maybe that’s exactly what I need.

I stared at the smeared lipstick, at the mess I’d made, then I leaned forward and pushed my cheek against her clean one. "There’ll come a time when you’ll push me too far and too fast."

"I hope so. Where would be the fun in taking things slow?"

I had to smile, but before I pulled back, feeling the deceleration of the elevator, I darted forward, nipped her earlobe hard enough to make her squeal, then murmured, "Do not reapply the lipstick when you head to the restroom." I saw her mutinous expression and warned, "Pick your battles, little one."

A shaky sigh escaped her, and I knew why. It had nothing to do with my dictate, and everything to do with the term of endearment. It hadn’t slipped out by mistake. It just felt right. Seemed she agreed because it turned her to goo in my arms.

Blog tour (Excerpt + Review): Fake by Kylie Scott

"Such an easy, sexy read! You'll fall for Patrick Walsh, just like I did. I guarantee it."
--Monica Murphy, New York Times bestselling author

Fake, an all new witty and sexy fake relationship, grumpy hero standalone from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott, is available now!

He walks the red carpet. She’s more familiar with vacuuming one.

When a scandal tarnishes the reputation of hot as hell A-lister, Patrick Walsh, he needs a reputation rescue, pronto.

Enter waitress Norah Peers–a nobody who’s average with a capital A. She’s available, dependable, and has sworn off men for the rest of her natural born life. In other words: the perfect match for a no-strings fake romance.

For the right amount of money, she can avoid waitressing and play the part of his dependable down-to-earth girlfriend. What she can’t avoid–dammit–is the growing steam between them.

But being hounded by the paparazzi and having her life dissected on social media is a panic attack in the making. And while Patrick might be a charming rogue on screen, in real life he’s a six-foot-two confusing, gorgeous, brooding grump, who keeps her at a distance . . . but also makes her feel like this bond between them might be more than just an act.

Being dumped on cue should be no big deal. Except being fake with Patrick is the realist relationship Norah has ever had. What’s a girl to do, but flip the script, and ask for a re-match made in Hollywood?

Review:

This is my first ever Kylie Scott book and my first fake relationship read. The story kept me hooked from the start and I loved every bit of it. The relationship between Norah and Patrick is handled very maturely by the author. There is no unnecessary drama in the story line. I loved how as the story progressed so did their relationship and everything was subtle and sweet.

Patrick is this beautiful, handsome, and caring man. I loved how he is super protective of Norah. On the other hand, Norah is super cute. She rants so much during the entire story. Her rants are cute and funny. They are thoroughly entertaining. I  found the family curse to be hilarious.

Oh and how can I forget Norah's grandmother. What a strong and utterly impressive lady. I loved her more than the protagonists.

Coming to the story line, the entire story is told through Norah's point of view. Had there been few chapters in the book that gave Patrick's perspective, I could understand what exactly was happening in his head. I felt that at times his character just disappeared. There were certain instances in the story where it was hard to understand his actions.

The writing part of this story is very well done. It's easy to follow and simple.

Thus, fake by Kylie Scott was an interesting read and I would to check out her other books. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

CHAPTER ONE

He slunk into the restaurant mid-afternoon wearing his usual scowl. Ignoring the closed sign, he took a booth near the back. No one else was allowed to do this. Just him. Today’s wardrobe consisted of black jeans, Converse, and a button-down shirt. Doubtless designer. And the way those sleeves hugged his biceps . . . why, they should have been ashamed of themselves. I was this close to yelling “get a room.”

Instead, I asked, “The usual?”

Slumped down in the corner of the booth, he tipped his chin in reply. For such a tall guy, he sure went out of his way to try to hide.

I said no more. Words were neither welcomed nor wanted. Which was fine since (A) I was tired and (B) he tipped well for the peace and quiet.

Out back, Vinnie the cook was busy prepping for tonight, his knife making quick work of an onion.

“He’s here,” I said.

A smile split Vinnie’s face. He was a huge fan of the man’s action films. The ones he’d made before hitting it big time and taking on more serious dramatic roles. Him choosing to visit the restaurant every month or so made Vinnie’s life complete. Especially since the restaurant, Little Italy, was the very definition of a hole in the wall. Not somewhere generally frequented by the Hollywood elite. Meanwhile, I was less of a fan, but still a fan. You know.

“Get him his beer,” Vinnie ordered.

Like I didn’t know my job. Sheesh.

He was busy with his cell by the time I placed the Peroni in front of him. No glass. He drank straight from the bottle like an animal. Just then, a woman in a red sweater dress and tan five-inch-heel booties strode in through the front door.

“I’m sorry, we’re closed,” I said.

“I’m with him.” She headed straight for his booth and slid into the other side, giving the man a dour look. “You can’t just walk out, Patrick. You’re going to have to choose one of them.”

“Nope.” He took a pull from his beer. “They all sucked.”

“There had to be at least one that would do.”

“Not even a little.”

She sighed. “Keep this up and you’ll be obsolete by next week. Beyond help. Forgotten.”

“Go away, Angie.”

“Just another talented but trash male in Hollywood. That’s what they’re saying on social media.”

“I don’t give a shit.”

“Liar,” she drawled.

I wasn’t quite sure what to do. Obviously they knew each other, but he did not seem to want her here. And she really wasn’t supposed to be here. Vinnie had okayed after-hours entry to only one person. On the other hand, if I asked her to leave, she’d probably sic her lawyers on me. She looked the type.

The woman spied me hovering. “Get me a glass of red.”

“She’s not staying,” countermanded Patrick.

Angie didn’t move an inch. “They were all viable options. Pliant. Young. Pretty. Discreet. Nothing weird or kinky in their backgrounds.”

“That might have made them more interesting.”

“Interesting women is what got you into this mess.” The woman frowned, taking me in. Still hovering. One perfectly shaped brow rose in question. “Yes? Is there a problem?”

Now it was Patrick’s turn to sigh and give me a nod. He was so dreamy with his jaw and cheekbones and his everything. Real classic Hollywood handsome. Especially with his short light brown hair in artful disarray and a hint of stubble. Sometimes it was hard not to stare. Which is probably why his personality tended to scream “leave me alone.”

I headed for the small bar area at the back of the restaurant to fetch the wine like a good little waitress.

“We shouldn’t be discussing this here,” said Angie, giving the room a disdainful sniff. Talk about judgy. I thought the raw brick walls and chunky wood tables were cool. Give or take Vinnie’s collection of old black-and-white photos of Los Angeles freeways. Who knew what that was about?

Patrick slumped down even further. “I’m not going back there. I’m done with it.”

“This isn’t safe.” Angie looked around nervously. “Let’s—”

“We’re fine. I’ve been coming here for years.”

“You just got dropped from a big-budget film, Patrick,” she said, exasperation in her tone. “The industry may not find you bankable right now, but I’m sure gossip about you is still selling just fine. This week at least.”

Blog tour (Excerpt + Review): Merciless Hunter by Faith Summers

She should have run away from me when she had the chance…

Merciless Hunter, an all-new standalone dark romance from USA Today bestselling author Faith Summers, is available now!

I was on a mission of retribution and vengeance:
find my son then make my enemies pay for kidnapping him and killing my wife.
Then I met her.
Olivia made a big mistake when she tried to trick me.
I'm the leader of a blood-thirsty brotherhood.
In the Bratva the rules are simple:
An eye for an eye.
A tooth for a tooth.
Enemies will always be enemies.
Try to fool me, and you pay with your life.
Except this beautiful angel managed to enchant me.
So I make her my prisoner.
A captive at the mercy of my desire.
One taste and I don’t want to let her go.
One taste and I want to make her mine.
When danger comes knocking, our fates crash together.
Locked in a web of deceit and betrayal.
Tangled in secrets and lies.
I thought I had nothing left to lose.
Until my enemies take her.
Love has no place for a dark soul like me.
But I’ll walk through the fires of hell to get her back.

Review:

Before going forward with the rest of the review, this book has some instances of sexual abuse and kidnapping.

Merciless hunter by Faith Summers is the fourth book in the dark syndicate series. It is full of suspense, danger, romance and emotions. A true page turner and one that will linger with you for a while.

This story follows Olivia and Aiden. Olivia is on a search for her brother for which she approaches Aiden who is the mafia king or Pakhan in Bratva terminology. Aiden is dangerous, a ruthless killer and is on his own mission to avenge the death of his wife and son. Olivia knows the risk but she is determined to find her brother and with this determination she goes to meet Aiden. Will Aiden help her? Will Olivia be ever able to find her brother, or for that matter survive meeting Aiden?

Aiden is one of those anti-heroes who will grow on you. He comes across as this threatening, savage yet super handsome devil. Yet by the end of the story you will come to admire his character. The transformation that he goes through is amazing.

On the other hand, Olivia is beautiful, and meekly. There are instances in this story that she will come across as a damsel in distress, but the fact is, which I realised at the end of the story, that she is practically helpless in most of the situations. Simply, because since childhood she has seen a different reality and has not been a part of the situations she is presently in. There are times that she rises to the occasion and defends herself, but they are few. This is also a result of the emotional trauma that she has has been a victim of, since she was a teenager.

Both the characters are very well handled. They develop with the story. The writing is admirable. I especially loved how Olivia's back story comes out in the book. It doesn't happen all at once, but it is told slowly with the pace of the story. Another thing that I loved is the fact that the author takes enough time in the start of the story to explain the entire setting, and characters. So, as a first time reader you will not feel confused.

The plot of the story is well paced and has multiple twists and turns that will keep you guessing what will happen next. Even though it a dark romance novel, it still has a lot of blood shed.

However, there were numerous grammatical mistakes in the story, that made it, at times, hard to read and there were times that I had to guess what the author is trying to say.

Keeping all the above discussion on the book in mind, I would rate this novel 4 out of 5 stars.

Excerpt

“Where do we go from here?   Where do we even start?”

That is the real problem. What do we do with this information?

“My best guess is that our next move should be to go to L.A. and find a way to see what Aiden Romanov knows,” Amy replies.

“But who can go?” Mom rasps. It’s another good question.

“I was thinking I could—” Amy begins but I cut her off by raising my hand.

“No. If your next words were to go to L.A. then it’s a no,” I answer and Mom nods.

“We are not putting you in any more danger,” Mom agrees.

“I don’t know what I would do if something happened to you,” I say.  “Please tell me Jude won’t know you helped us.”

“No, he won’t. My contact works outside the realms of everything, and that’s why I didn’t use any of my devices at work or at home.   He will never know.”

“Good. I think that’s it. You should stop helping now.”

“I can’t just stop helping. What are you going to do?” Her brows pinch and the worry I saw earlier in her bright green eyes intensifies.

What am I going to do?

That’s such a good question.

Eric’s in captivity, and if I marry Jude, the same fate awaits me. Marrying him will be the anchor to my hell.

I will be in captivity, and what do I think is going to happen to Mom?

If Jude can threaten my life so easily and tell me fucked up shit about not wanting something to happen to me after the wedding, what do I really think he’ll do to my mother?

If he can make my brother disappear for five years, can I be foolish enough to think worse won’t happen to me?

This is just the tip of the shit and…I have a really bad idea.

An idea which takes residence in my soul with each passing second. “I’ll go,”I say and they both look at me as if I’ve just lost my mind.

It’s laughable because I wonder the same.

Have I gone crazy?

Do I really think I can save Eric and change things?

Stop Jude?

Find Aiden and do what?

I have no plan and I’m just me.

Olivia Markov.

There’s nothing special about me.

But I’d sure as fuck prefer to walk in the valley of the shadow of death, in the lair of beasts, than sign my life away to Jude Kuzmin.

“No,” Mom blurts. “Olivia no.”

“Then what? What should we do?   Leave things as they are? Leave Eric to die in captivity?   You want me to marry Jude so he can accidentally kill me, then kill you?”

“Olivia it’s dangerous.”

“Don’t you think I know that.”

“Olivia, I have to agree with your mother,” Amy says.  “Aiden Romanov is a very dangerous man, and we have no idea what the newly found Syndicate members are like.”

You’re telling me this, and you were offering to go?”

“Eric is my friend. I just want to help.”

“You have babies.”

“I know, and I…  I just feel bad I can’t do more.”

“You’ve helped enough.”

“But we’re stuck. How are you even going to escape? There are guards everywhere, and they’re with you twenty-four seven.”

And if I escape Mom’s dead. There must be a way around this.

When I think about yesterday when I saw Jude and the way he treated me I shudder inwardly.

He wants us to focus on that fucking wedding, and every time the word is mentioned I feel like I want to die.

I close my eyes and the thought of the wedding stirs an idea in my mind. An idea that just might work. My eyes snap open and I look at Amy and then at Mom.

“I think I might have come up with something. Something that will get me to Aiden Romanov.”

Blog tour (Review) : Say I'm the one by Siobhan Davis

From the USA Today bestselling author of Inseparable and When Forever Changes comes another emotional, angsty, new adult romance that will rip your heart apart before mending it again.

Say I’m the One, the first in the all-new All of Me Duet from USA Today bestselling author Siobhan Davis is available now!

I’m head over heels in love with my best friend. Although, I can’t pinpoint exactly when Reeve Lancaster became my entire world.
Was it when we were little kids, practically brought up together, after Reeve’s mom died during childbirth and his dad subsequently fell apart? Or when I doodled his name in my school journal at age ten? Maybe it was when we became boyfriend and girlfriend at fourteen or when we shed our virginity at sixteen, pledging our forever?
I was there as his star ascended—like I’d always known it would—and there wasn’t a prouder person on the planet. As the only child of Hollywood’s golden couple, I’ve lived my life in the spotlight enough to know it wasn’t what I wanted for my future. But I sacrificed my own desires, because Reeve’s happiness meant everything to me.
Until he crushed my heart into itty-bitty pieces, forcing me to fly halfway around the world just to escape the gut-wrenching pain.
The opportunity to study at Trinity College Dublin came at the perfect moment, and I jumped at the chance without hesitation. If I’d known fate was meddling in my life, perhaps I would have chosen differently, but my future was cemented the instant I laid eyes on him.
Dillon O’Donoghue was Reeve’s polar opposite in every way, and perhaps, that’s why I felt drawn to him. He was the dark to my light. The thorn in my side, irritating me with his cold disdain, wild recklessness, and a burning rage hidden deep inside him that spoke to a silent part within me. Yet Dillon showed me what it was like to truly live, opening my eyes to endless possibilities.
What happened next was inevitable, and I only have myself to blame. He warned me, and I knew my reprieve was temporary, because there is only so far I can run.
Especially when fate hasn’t finished messing with me yet.

Review

Say I'm the one by Siobhan Davis is quiet an emotional, romantic, frustrating and twisted journey. This is a story full of drama, a heathly relationship which becomes toxic and a journey back to healthy relationship with a totally unexpected, unanticipated ending.

I recently finished this book, and am still in a shock with how it ended. I can't stress it enough the ending was super twisted and surprising. This book is fabulously written. It will surely pull a lot of emotions out of you which you might not have had with other books. It is not a light read. This is a 580 page long book which is super hard to let go. I literally pulled all-nighters just because putting this book down was a complete no-no. I finished this book within two days which is a proof of how good this book is.

Talking about the drama in this book. It's a pure relationship drama between Vivien, Reeve and Dillon. This drama is nothing you have never seen before in romance movies or even some of the T.V. series. However, the way it has been written is what makes all the difference. While reading the book you will feel multiple emotions which will truely be in line with the emotion that Vivien is going through, since the entire story is told through Vivien's point of view. The stuff she goes through in the book is just outrageous and heart wrenching.

The characters in this book are very well written and serve their purpose. I just want to put it out there, When in the story Vivien found Dillon I was so happy, he is dangerous and everything that Reeve is not. I started rooting for Vivien and Dillon. But the ending broke my heart.

This is a story that is masterfully written and something that I will highly recommend. I would rate this book a massive 5 out of 5 stars.

P.s. The second book in the series is going to release on 31st of May. I hope 31st comes fast.
